What is the estimated worth of a Tiffany Hanging Lamp?

I received a Tiffany Hanging Lamp (a real Tiffany, not fake) from my grandparents who bought it when they were recently married so it was purchased back in the late 40's early 50's. It is approximately 3-4 feet wide and it has grapes on it. I saw one on Ebay this size that had grapes and pears on it and it was going for approximately $50,000.00. This lamp has one stain glass piece missing, and one edge pieces is just hanging on by a thread (however, as far as I can remember it has been like that. My grandma said that it is worth a lot of money but I just wanted to know if anyone would know the approximate value. My husband and I thought maybe we should get it insured if it has a high value.|||I, too, would take it to a reputable appraiser and if it is authentic, it should be insured. Just beware that the appraisers can charge you a % of the value of the item.

Also, they shuld be able to suggest a good restorer to aid in the missing/ damaged glass repair. That, too, can affect the value.|||These lamps / shades if authenticated are worth a small fortune depending on the model and year etcc..... Go to a reputable auction house and they should be able to authenticate and appraise it for you. Bear in mind that 99% of tiffany pieces on the market today are fakes. There are quite a few than can help you. I have dealt with Skinners in Boston and they were very helpful|||Tiffany-good for you. However if you are going to have it insured-they will want it to be in perfect condition.I would think, see if it's real since there are many fakes, and if real see about getting it repaired. There are antique restorers that work with museums, that would know how to do this.Even an insurance compant that deals in art works would have someone they could recommend. What ever you decide is going to cost a great deal .The thing with real "art" it costs a great deal to keep in repair and insurance may be hundreds of dollars a year. But first see if your item is Tiffany.
